winter farewell

icy wind chills to the core,

i ignore for a few moments more,

grasping your shaking hands

as winter makes its final stand

before the spring casts it away

like the seasons, we come and go

and you’re no different, this i know,

no more bitter winds and numbing pain,

but warming sun and nurturing rain,

yet I will miss your chilled touch

and spring will yield to summer’s call,

and summer gives way to the fall

and after that, winter will return

with fresh snows and frosted winds,

and i will wait for you as well
